Obituary

            Yvette Carriere passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 1, 2020 at St. Joseph’s home in Medicine Hat, Alberta at the age of 101 years. 

            Yvette, was born in Nicolet, Becancour Quebec and later moved with her parents, to San Clara, Manitoba when she was six years old. She married Albert Carriere on November 15, 1948 and together they raised their six sons.  In her young years, Yvette had a great love of her horses and spoke of them often, she loved her big gardens where she would spend hours. She always baked bread, cookies, and cakes and always had them ready for anyone who would stop by for a coffee and visit.  Mom will always be remembered for her kindness, her faith her positivity and the love of her family. She was always excited about the holidays when family came home and she would always have her candy dish full and the cards ready for play. In 2015 Mom moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, to be closer to family. She loved her place there and got lots of company but no one could leave without first playing cards or a game of shuffleboard. She was very proud to be Memere to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, she loved to participate in any activity they did whether it was pumpkin carving, egg painting, Christmas decorating or baking. She loved to go shopping (especially to the dollar store) and getting her nails done. She cherished every moment spent with her family. RIP Memere we love you.

           Yvette leaves to cherish her memory five sons; Omer (Debbie), Fidele (Ann), Eugene (Dawn), Hubert, Gideon (Joyce) as well as 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, sisters Annette Lachance and Cecile Pahud, brothers Herve Mailhot and Armand (Rena) Mailhot, sisters in law Simone Cockerill, Noella Porath, Stella Carriere, Theresa Holtby (Bert) brothers in law; Guy Carriere (Sylvie) Charles Carriere (Gloria) and numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends. Yvette was predeceased by her husband Albert, daughter in law Marlene, son Emery, daughter in law Wanda and grandson Bradley.  Her mother and father Maryann and Emery Mailhot .

           A prayer service was held March 8, 2020 and Mass of Christian Burial was held the following day, both services from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Roblin with Father Soosal Antonyiar officiating. Interment followed beside her beloved husband Albert, at the Roblin Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Yvette Carriere may be made to Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund Box 1449 Roblin Manitoba R0L1P0 or St. Joseph’s Home 156 3rd ST NE Medicine Hat Alberta T1A 5M1.

 

The Carriere family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Home for their excellent care and compassion, Father Soosal Antonyiar for a wonderful service, Stan Ostafie and the church choir for the beautiful music, the CWL for the delicious lunch, Dereck Wolkowski from NCW Funeral Service, Beth and staff of the Harvest Moon Inn for allowing us to take over their wonderful facility. Also to everyone attending and sending flowers, food, cards and condolences your love and kindness is very much appreciated.
