Della Miller

Obituary

Della Ida Miller was born on April 21, 1922 to Jacob and Johanna Nettie Schneider (nee Dressler) and was raised at MacNutt, Saskatchewan with a big family of siblings. She was the last of 23, Yours, Mine and Ours.   She married Christian Miller on October 24, 1941. They were blessed with four children. Della and Christian worked side by side on the farm. Mom did a lot of work outside. She always had a huge vegetable garden that was weed free, and flower gardens.  They moved to Roblin in 1969, where they continued gardening and mom started working for the doctor’s offices and did babysitting for a couple of families. She also volunteered at the Drop In Centre. Della, insisted the church needed a choir and worked on that until they finally agreed. She also helped getting the “TOPS” club started. Mom's eyesight started failing a long time ago, but that didn’t stop her from participating in all kinds of activities. She was musical, artistic and loved doing several different kinds of crafts, until her first bad fall that resulted in a broken femur and hip. She was 91 when her first fall happened.  Then when she was 93, another serious fall, that resulted in a broken hip on her left side. Even after all that, she still loved singing along with whomever came to Crocus Court to entertain the residents and wonderful staff.

She will be missed by all who loved her. She will be missed by her children: daughter Dorothy (Al) Ellingboe, son Ray (Bernadette), son Cliff (Shirley). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Della was predeceased by her husband, Christian, her grandson David in 1983 and her daughter Bernice in 2017.
