In Loving Memory of

Roberta Alexandra “Robbie” McDonald

1953 – 2017

Roberta Alexandra “Robbie” McDonald passed away suddenly in Roblin, MB on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the age of 63 years.

Robbie was born on April 17, 1953 at Winnipeg, MB.  She was the 3rd daughter of Eva and Sandy (nee Robertson) McDonald.  She received her schooling in Winnipeg.   After graduation she started employment with the Royal Bank in Winnipeg.  In 1976, she was transferred to the Royal Bank in Roblin.  Many years later, Robbie then moved down the block to work at Canada Post.  She made many lifelong friends at those institutions.  After several years of working at the Post Office, Robbie then moved further down Main Street to Roblin Tire to work with Gord.  She was Gord’s rock and mainstay.  She worked there until her passing.

Shortly after arriving in Roblin, Robbie met the love of her life and her soul mate, Gordon Keast.  They would grow to be inseparable.  Robbie quickly became a fixture in Roblin.  She was a people person.  She enjoyed interacting with her many customers at the Royal Bank, Post Office, and of course, Roblin Tire.  Her smile, good humor and zest for life drew many to seek her out.

Robbie often contacted her sisters Sandra and Arlene for sisterly tête-à-têtes.

Robbie’ s niece Kortney and her nephews, Kirk, Drew, Todd, and her great nieces and nephews loved Aunty Roberta and enjoyed their visits.  Robbie always made an effort to stay in their lives.  “Only an Aunt can give hugs like a mom, keep secrets like a sister, and share love like a friend”.

Robbie enjoyed music, travel, fishing, golf, curling, her big dog Toby, the Winnipeg Jets and hanging out with her many friends and family.  Most of all, Robbie loved spending time with Gord.   Robbie, Gord and Tob were rarely seen apart, especially after Rob joined Gord at the Tire Shop.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go

Some stay for a while and leave foot prints on our hearts,

and we are changed forever

Robbie was one of those special people.

Robbie was predeceased by her parents, Eva and Sandy (nee Robertson) McDonald, brother in law Bill Badger, niece Krista Barschel, aunt Fern Robertson, and her in-laws, Doris and Gordon Keast.

Robbie is survived by her partner Gordon Keast; her sisters Sandra Badger and Arlene (Ron) Barschel; niece Kortney (Ricki) Blackett and child Jaiden; nephews Kirk (Amy) Badger and children Brooke, Luke and Halle; Drew (Julie) Badger and children Carson and Cole and Todd (Jennifer) Barschel and children Max, Jacob and Kaitlyn; aunty Tillie MacDonald; sister-in-law Kathy Keast (Barry Hooke) and brother-in-law D’Arcy (Eileen) Keast.

A memorial celebration of Robbie’s Life was held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Roblin Community Centre with Pastor Randy Moffit officiating.  Organist Laurie Moffit provided the interlude.  The processional music selection was ‘Let it Be’ by the Beatles. Kirk Badger, Robbie’s nephew, delivered the eulogy.  Special musical selections, ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and ’Vios Con Dios’, were performed by Ed Doering. The recessional music selection was ‘Spirit in the Sky’ by Norman Greenbaum.

Following the Interment Service in Roblin District Cemetery, a reception for family and friends was held at the Roblin Community Hall.
