Norman Douse

1927 – 2017


Norman Douse passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Crocus Court Personal Care Home in Roblin, Manitoba.

Norman was born on February 19, 1927 to Nathanial and Ethel (nee Johnson) Douse on the family farm in the RM of Hillsburg, Manitoba.

Norman attended school in Roblin until the age of 14, when he started looking after the farm and hauling wood.  Over the years, he carried on the farm and built it up.

In 1970, he married Joyce Dunlop.  This union was blessed with one son- Charles.

Norman loved horses and cattle, as well as doing leather work.  He will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help someone who needed help.

He was  a member of the Roblin Evangelical Mission Church and the Merridale Club.  He was a long-time member of Parkway Coop and the Roblin Pioneer Museum.

Norman was predeceased by his parents, Nathanial and Ethel (nee Johnson) Douse; an infant sister, Evelyn; his sister Gladys Sanders, his nephew, Durrell Sanders; his niece, Barb Sanders and his beloved wife, Joyce (nee Dunlop) Douse.

Norman is survived by his son, Charles Douse and Patrisha Sinclair of Roblin; three grandchildren, Savanna Douse, Lyndy Douse and Sophie Douse of Red Deer; two nieces, Angie Sanders of Medicine Hat, AB, and Sandra Sanders of Winnipeg; and two nephews, Doug Sanders of Winnipeg and Len Sanders of Regina. 

Norman’s Funeral Service was held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Evangelical Mission Church in Roblin with Pastor Randy Moffit officiating.  The pianist- Mrs. Laurie Moffit led the congregational hymns “Old Rugged Cross” and “Abide with Me”.

Norman was carried to his final resting place in Roblin District Cemetery by the Casket Bearers, Mark Becker, Reg Becker, Chester Cockerill, Richard Wutzke, Blaine Mitchell and Duncan Chase.

Following the Interment Service, a reception for family and friends was held in the auditorium of Evangelical Mission Church, hosted by the Evangelical Church Ladies.
