After her high school years, she took a 1-year business college course. After that, she obtained employment with the Roblin Trading Post where she met a very special man, by the name of Charles “Hap” Latimer. As time went her and Hap were married on July 1, 1956. Hazel and Hap did everything together. They moved several times for Hap’s career, but always found time to be involved in each and every community they lived in. She loved her curling and so did Hap, which made it easy to meet people and socialize. Hazel was also involved also with Ladies Ball and golfing. Travelling to many tournaments across the province and most importantly always found time to take part in the Ronald McDonald House tournament each year. She was a long-time supporter of the Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon. Community service was also important to Hazel, as she was a part of the Rebekah Lodge, Anglican Church, Kinette Club, Royal Purple and the 50+ Club in many of the communities that they lived. Hazel and Hap loved to travel and camp, they enjoyed visiting and this gave the many opportunities to meet new people and visit with friends. Hazel was such a happy-smiling person who seem to love life.

Hazel is survived by her brother-in-law; Ron (Joyce) Latimer, as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends. She is predeceased by her husband "Hap"
