Charles Latimer, or more fondly known as, "Hap" Latimer was born to Francis and Arena Latimer (nee Carr) in Durban, Manitoba. Hap attended public and high school in Durban and Benito, completing his grade 11. While growing up and attending school, Hap worked as a clerk at the local hardware and general store. From the age of 12, he worked after school and on Saturdays. After he completed school, he was employed by British American Oil, as a driver/salesman in the Swan River district. During the year 1946, Hap joined National Grain Construction and Maintenance crew and remained with them until 1950. At that point, he transferred over to the grain handling division, of National Grain. During this time, he was employed as a grain buyer (agent) for the company and was transferred to Buchanan, Saskatchewan for a period of one year. In 1951, he was transferred to Roblin, Manitoba and remained the agent until July of 1958. At which he then resigned and took a position with Beaver Lumber in Roblin. After about 6 months of training, he became a manager for the company, at various locations including; Rossburn, Erickson, Pilot Mound, Manitou Manitoba and Manitouwadge, Ontario. Hap and Hazel were married in Grandview, on July 1, 1956.
Eventually, Hap and Hazel made their way back to Roblin and settled into their retirement. Hap was very active in every community he was apart of. Hap was a member of the ELKS Lodge, Lion's Club, Kinsmen, curling clubs, golf clubs and the Chamber of Commerce. He also volunteered to drive the handi-van in Roblin, for many years, as well as drive others out of town for medical appointments. Hap and Hazel also loved to dance and travel. They spent many years travelling to Phoenix, Arizona for the winter months of retirement.
Hap is survived by his loving wife Hazel, brother Ron (Joyce) Latimer as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Hap is predeceased by his parents and by 2 sisters; Ellen and Margaret.
