In Loving Memory of

James Willard Paul

1929 – 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Willard Paul at the age of 87 years old on Thursday,  May 25, 2017 with family by his side.

James was born October 21, 1929 in Shell River, MB. to the late Dominic Napoleon and Marie Pearl (nee Larocque) Paul.  He was a son, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 58 years Vivian Paul; his children, Willard Paul (Cheryl) of Roblin, MB; Rodrick Paul (Barb) of East Selkirk, MB; Rodney Paul (Leanne) of Melfort, SK; Marlene Fesik (Les) of Kamsack, SK; Eva Dobransky (Greg) of San Clara, MB; and Connie Allarie (Darcy) of Roblin.  James will also be missed by his 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; his brother Fred (Georgeline) of San Clara; and his sister Lillian Bilous of Winnipeg, MB.

He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters (Jenny Vipond and Laura Paul), two brothers in law Edwin Vipond and Morris Bilous, and a step-son Hector Lavallee.James lived with his family in San Clara, MB.  He held a variety of jobs in his younger days including running his own sawmill.  Most recent was a long enjoyable career in the natural resources sector for the parks from which he retired in 1994.

Through his life he loved hunting, fishing, bingo, music, and bbq's with family and friends.  In more recent years he spent his days tinkering around the shop or proudly tending to his garden of the best potatoes around.  By far his favorite thing in life was music.  He loved to play the fiddle and have jam sessions with his wife and brother; and you could hear them playing clear across town.  You could also often hear him humming a tune or singing his favorite song while going about his day.  He was loving, kind, humble, and truly a beautiful soul.  The gift of your presence in our lives will forever live on in our hearts.

A Prayer Vigil Service was held on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Ste. Claire Roman Catholic Church in San Clara with Father Paul Bisson officiating.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM, at Ste. Claire Roman Catholic Church with Father Paul Bisson officiating.  Connie Henry shared her musical talents during the service.  His grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all those who have shared in James’ life were asked to consider themselves Honorary Casket Bearers.

James was laid to rest in Ste. Claire Parish Cemetery.  Following the Interment Service, a memorial luncheon was held at New Life Fellowship.
