                LaPlante Frank  September 12, 1933 – September 3, 2017, aged 83 years, was born at home, Sec 27, Tsp 29 Range 29, Shellriver Municipality.  He was the youngest son of Albert and Bella LaPlante.  He attended Clemenceau School from grades 1-6.  At the age of fifteen he went to work at Cockerill’s Mill falling trees during the winter then when it was harvest, he went stoking and threshing around Shoal Lake area.  He also did farm work, milking, cows in the Russell area.

                In 1950, he worked in Winnipeg as laborer building Fort Whyte Cement Company.  He worked in Regina for two years as labourer on building construction, then Edmonton on construction for Western Asbestos as a carpenter, building schools.  He returned to Winnipeg still employed with Western Asbestos and working on ceilings and wall finisher for five years.  In 1958, he married Pearl Weir from Roblin and raised a family of four children.  He worked for Ivory Plastering and Lathing as foreman for twenty-two years.  Pearl passed away in 1978, Frank was left raising his children.  Frank remained in Winnipeg, he owned and operated Probilt Wall and Ceiling until 1990.

                As his children grew up and went their own way, he went to work in Powell River, B.C. as a drywaller for Brown Acoustics at the construction of the hospital. When Grant and his family moved, Frank again found employment as a finisher carpenter for two years in Prince George, B.C.  In 1994, he returned to retire in Roblin, MB.  There he met the widow of a friend and decided this is where he was to stay.  Frank and Bernice (re Maliteare) were married October 3, 1998 and lived in Roblin until his passing. 

                Frank also enjoyed horse racing, golfing and attending bingos.

                Frank will be forever missed by his wife Bernice, daughters Evelyn (Juan), Lori (Paul) Bergeron sons Garth(Liz) and Grant (Bev), grandchildren Arielle and Ray Bergeron, Sarah LaPlante, Nicholas. Alexa and Elenna LaPlante, step-daughters Sherry Flesher, Shannon (Ray) Case, Kim (Warren) Ludwig, step grandchildren Tyler and Tyson Flesher, Chris and Kyle Ludwig, Keely (Shane) Steele, Krista Case and James Young, step great grand children Dakota, Hayley, Cassidy, Jorja and Sherryce, sister Elsie (Don) Evans.

                Frank is predeceased by parents Albert and Bella LaPlante, sister Evelyn (Bill Vaughan), brothers Edward, Alex, William, Robert and niece Karen.

                Prayer service was held September 8, 2017 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church Roblin, MB., Mass of Christian Burial on September 9, 2017 from Ste. Claire Roman Catholic Church, San Clara, MB., with Father Bastin officiating interment followed at Ste. Claire Roman Catholic Cemetery, San Clara, MB.  Memorial Donations in memory of Frank may be made to Ste. Claire Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund.
